Final Blog

Though I was unable to make international contacts, I must say I truly enjoyed the World  Forum Radio.  I was amazed at the accomplishments of the individuals who are trying and have succeeded in making a difference in the lives of children and organization internationally.  It was quite apparent from each podcast, the dedication and strength each individual possessed in improving the lives of the children.

In researching and through listening,  I found that even though we have issues in America and seek universal standards for teaching, that overseas they struggle at a higher level with the inequality of their education system.
-Their  teaching requirements are different (struggle to find qualified teachers to teach period)
-Their  level of poverty is different (many countries deal with third world poverty, something the U. S has no clue about, because our poverty is bad, but it does not compare to 3rd world poverty)
-Their learning styles and learning requirements are different (what we value as important for our children, may differ from what other countries see as beneficial for their children; so many children lack in area that are  much needed for success.

A goal that I would love to see impact the international  early childhood field is  equality in education and universal standards across the board so that children all over the world have an equal chance of succeeding in school and in life.  Its hard on any group, organization etc to compare data, if they are working from different standards and change in standard is not a focus.  I would love some day to go overseas and visit and see how the children learn.

I truly enjoyed this class and I enjoyed learning with all of my colleagues and I learned so much from all the information provided and through website and research.  I wish everyone the best and I hope to continue learning with all of you as we progress to the next course.
