Blog Assignment: Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: National/Federal Level

Three National/Federal Committee of Interest:

NCEP (National Committee on Equal Pay )

-I love this organization because it promotes equality for all genders despite the reality that even today, women and minorities are still in the red, in comparison to men working in the same profession (same education).

"Next Equal Pay Day:
Tuesday,
April 9, 2013"(NCEP)
$

"Wear RED on Equal Pay Day
to symbolize how far women
and minorities are "in the red" with their pay!"(NCEP).

NCSL (The National Conference of State Legislatures)

I love this national committee because it is an advocate for early education for children and it shows awareness of the importance of early intervention.

NCSL supports early care and education and its benefits, especially in lessening the adverse effects of childhood poverty.

CPR ( Council of Professional Recognition)

I love this organization, because it recognizes the value of teachers and asset that each can bring to the learning environment, but more than that, it sets the standards.
http://www.cdacouncil.org/the-resource-center/early-childhood-organizations
"The field of early childhood education includes an abundance of organizations that support the professional development of early childhood teachers and that promote improvements in services to young children. Teachers become members of one or more of these associations to help them grow professionally, stay current on early childhood issues, and participate in group efforts to promote change. Listed below are some professional associations that are particularly relevant to CDA Candidates and Child Development Associates. In addition to membership benefits, these organizations also offer a wide variety of resource materials"(CPR).

Exploring Roles in the ECE Community: Local and State

Exploring Roles in the ECE Community: Local and State Levels

Three  local organizations that appeal to me are :
 Total Action Against Poverty  www.tapintohope.org

This is a wonderful organization, because it helps children in the early stages get the resources it needs to go to school, get immunizations and help parents get the skills needed to better serve their children.

Salvation Army www.salvationarmyusa.org/

This is a wonderful church/community organization that helps families all over the U.S with food, Christmas, utilities , and community services.  It is an outreach organization that lends a hand to those in need.

WIC www.fns.usda.gov/wic/aboutwic/
WIC is an organization that provides nutrition training to mothers and mother's to be, and provides food/formulas supplements to help feed babies and toddlers.  The WIC organization ensures immunizations  are up to parts and provides resources and referrals to families to acquires things that are needed to sustain life.  It helped me when I was in need and it continues to aid mother's in need.

Available Jobs:
Jobs that are available now, that relate to working with the poor, specifically children are case managers for social service, intake workers, and AMERI-CORPs.  I live in an area where jobs are limited.

Skillls  needed for Jobs:
The skills that I would need to fulfill these jobs is personality, flexibility, compassion, ability to multi-task, creativity with limited budget and the drive to help and serve those children in need.
